King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla will dress in two distinct sets of robes throughout the coronation-the Robes of Condition and the Robes of Estate- on Saturday. Photographs produced by the Buckingham Palace confirmed Royal Faculty of Needlework’s embroidery staff conserving the King’s Gown of Condition, which will be worn by him on arrival at Westminster Abbey, and the Queen Consort’s Gown of Estate, which will be worn by her following she is topped, on departure from Westminster Abbey.
The royal relatives mentioned that this gown is created of crimson velvet and was worn by King George VI at the Coronation in 1937. In preparing for the coronation services, the velvet has been conserved by the Royal Faculty of Needlework, with the lining and gold lace conserved by Ede and Ravenscroft.
The Gown of Condition to be worn by Camilla was at first created for Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. The gown is created of crimson velvet and has been conserved with changes in advance of the coronation.
This gown is created of purple silk velvet embroidered in gold and was worn by King George VI in 1937. Robemakers have conserved and well prepared the gown in advance of the coronation.
The Queen Consort’s new Gown of Estate was developed and hand embroidered by the Royal Faculty of Needlework. The Gown by itself was created by Ede and Ravenscroft.
For the initial time, bugs like bees and a beetle function on the coronation gown, drawing on the themes of character and the setting and reflecting the King and Queen Consort's passion for the normal world.
