Lugo dropped out of the race on Saturday. The prospect did not give a cause why, stating only it was not "the appropriate time to find office environment."

The Rhode Island Democratic Women's Caucus, of which Rourke is vice chairwoman, condemned the assault.

Democratic Sen. Michael McCaffery has represented the district due to the fact 1995. Rourke ran towards McCaffrey in 2020, but he fended off the problem and quickly gained the basic election.
